Cambodian Prime Minister Pledges No Tax on Agricultural Land as Long as CPP Leads

Kampong Cham, July 1, 2024 – In a reassuring message to farmers, Prime Minister Hun Manet announced that as long as the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) continues to lead the country, there will be no tax on agricultural land to help improve the lives of the people.

During the celebration of the 19th National Fish Day at Boeung Thom Village, Kampong Samnang Village, Mean Commune, Prey Chhor District, Kampong Cham Province, on the morning of July 1, 2024, the Prime Minister emphasized the Royal Government’s commitment to actively promoting the first phase of the Pentagon strategy. This strategy includes key policy programs aimed at advancing the agricultural sector, such as boosting production, marketing, and price stabilization of agricultural products, deploying commune agriculture officials, and developing modern agricultural communities.

In 2023, Cambodia not only ensured complete food security for its people but also produced a surplus. The country exported over 8 million tons of agricultural products, generating nearly $5 billion in international revenue.
